Frequently Asked Questions Q. Does the BedMedic cleaning service cure allergies or asthma? A. No, but a home and especially bedding which is cleaned to the highest standards of hygiene will be of great benefit to sufferers. Many sufferers of asthma or allergies find an improved sleep pattern on the very first night after BedMedic cleaning and treatment. Q. Is it not more economical for me to vacuum my own bedding? A. Of course you can and many people do on a regular basis. However, a domestic vacuum system alone is not going to kill the dust mites or their eggs, nor will it deep clean a mattress as the BedMedic system is designed to accomplish. Another drawback of domestic systems is that it is almost impossible to extract all the live mites. Any live dust mites and their residue which they do pick up are simply going to be cycled out into the air again, sometimes causing further serious allergy attacks. Q. How old does a mattress have to be before it requires this kind of cleaning? A. We are happy to conduct a free test on mattresses of any age to determine if it is contaminated. Usually mattresses of 6 months usage or more will require attention. So long as your mattress is still comfortable, let us test it free before you decide whether to clean or replace it. Q. Does applying a mattress cover help? A. Some research says no if it is the breathable type. If you do wish to use a cover make sure it is applied to a new or newly cleaned and sterilised mattress. To apply a cover to a mattress which has been used will simply seal in a colony of dust mites which will continue to thrive on the residue of skin flakes which lie therein. Q. How long must I wait after the BedMedic cleaning process before the bed can be used? A. The bedding can be used after only 10 minutes from cleaning, this allows a few minutes for the non chemical disinfectant finishing spray to evaporate.
